At art berlin 2018 Galerie Michael Haas presents new works by David Nicholson, Booth 3.C.2.

The paint­ing-series of larger-than-life portraits consist of five Americans by David Nicholson from 2016-2018 show a Union Gen­eral, Confederate General Beauregard, Lakota Chief Medicine Crow, an African American slave, and a Spanish Conquistador.

“I chose each character as a condensed portrait of the populations fighting for dominance on the American con­tinent. America’s inability to reconcile the people who have come to live under its constitution still haunts the country to this day.” – David Nicholson

Nicholson was born in Montreal in 1970 and lives in Berlin.
