BEATE

GÜNTHER

*1957 Berlin – lives in Berlin

Beate Günther, who works in Berlin and in the Allgäu region, paints minimalistic, almost monochrome pictures. Nevertheless, they could hardly be more “painterly” in the sense of the artistic process.

Günther systematically modulates the surfaces with the material paint to create repetitive structures of rods, circular sponges or organic formations. This creates a materiality that leads from the distant observer position to the large formats and leads to their sensual experience.

Günther studied from 1979 to 1984 at the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts as a master student with Professor K. R. H. Sonderborg. The artist’s works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide, including in Cologne, Berlin, Zurich, Paris and Louisville, USA.
